About the Song
Malfektè Toujou Fini Mal carries a powerful message about justice and consequences, but it nearly didn't make the album. It was the first song I considered removing if I had to replace a track.
Why It Was Nearly Cut
The instrumental leans into a hip-hop style, and I felt that beat and vibe might feel out of place on a folk project.
It was also meant to be a collaboration, but it was too late to add a feature. I didn't want to wait on a collaborator to finalize it, knowing how time-consuming working with other artists can be, so I figured either I do it completely solo or remove it.
I was at the last minute of taking it off the tracklist when a friend told me it was one of the best songs on the album. That changed everything.
Why It Stayed
I kept it, and I'm glad I did. In the end, it became one of the most beautiful tracks on the project. It adds contrast and energy, and it helps the album feel more alive and honest.
Musical Elements
Musical Composition
The production blends modern urban-pop with a hip-hop edge and contemporary Haitian musical influences. That contrast is what makes the song stand out, giving the project a bold, unexpected color.
