How the Song Started
Shilay had the idea for M P'ap Regrete on the night of July 25, 2026. The first demo was recorded that night while the lyrics were still unfinished. A piano loop played from a laptop as Shilay sang the written sections and hummed through the parts that had not been completed.
Developing the Melodies
On July 26, Shilay continued writing and recording the song. Nine short recordings preserve possible melodies for the verses, ad-libs, and other vocal ideas. Some ideas developed further, while others were left unused. Together, the clips show the song taking shape before its lyrics and vocal arrangement were settled.
