More Than Just a Track
Out of all the songs on La Cigale, Mwen Toujou La is the one that carries the most weight in my heart. It might not be the flashiest or the most melodic, but it is the most personal. This track was born out of real pain, written during a moment when I was navigating one of the darkest periods of my life.
The Recording Process
I recorded it twice, once in 2024 and again in 2025 in a higher key. In the second session, I broke down crying. That had never happened to me before while working on any song. There was something so raw and unfiltered about this song. It wasn't about making a hit or impressing anyone. It was about survival.
The Weight of Every Note
Every lyric was intentional. Every silence was deliberate. The spaces between the notes carry as much meaning as the words themselves. This was my way of documenting not only my struggles but my persistence. I wanted the listeners to feel every ounce of that journey.
Why It Resonates
The song opens with a haunting instrumental, setting a tone of introspection. People might say it sounds slow or even too dramatic, but for me, it reflects a kind of truth. It's the sound of someone who's tired of pretending, someone who has been through betrayal and is still standing, even if quietly.
Even though there are technically more beautiful tracks on the album, none of them hit as hard as this one. This is the song that made me feel seen by myself.
