Verse 1 Breakdown
When I say May 18, I don't mean it literally. May 18 is a big day for Haitians. It's when they celebrate, have festivals and fun, and suddenly everyone is proudly Haitian and acting cool. Some people don't even disclose their nationality until it's time to celebrate. This part is dedicated to those born or raised overseas.
Even at work, they don't respect you if you're Haitian. It's very common for Haitians to disrespect each other, even more so in the workplace. They'll treat you worse just because you're one of them, because they see you as their equal. They're often afraid of other people like Americans, Jamaicans, and others they can't argue with due to the language barrier. But when you're Haitian, they feel bolder because you speak the same language. That makes it easier for them to abuse you verbally. You become the easy target.
Verse 2 Breakdown
When Elon Musk and the right wings called Haitians cannibals, the Haitian community was quick to react. People got mad, but the same people often call themselves cannibals without hesitation. And it's not just a figure of speech. Some Haitians literally eat humans. They kill them, raise them like livestock, and disguise them as animals, often cattle. This is not a myth.
There's a real fear of success in the Haitian community. If you're doing well, people will try to bring you down. That's not a joke. We've seen Haitians kill other Haitians over simple things, opening a business, getting good grades in school, just trying to do better. It happens often. It's not myth or a joke.
Verse 3 Breakdown
But Haitians always blame everyone else for their own doings. They even blamed Kamala Harris whom mind you had nothing to do with Haiti, a lot of them were rooting for Donald Trump but when he came back to power again they start blaming him too. They always have to blame someone else. All the chaos that is happening in the country, those men who are raping women and children, those men who are burning people alive, they are not Americans, they are not strangers, they are Haitians, yet they like to blame everyone else but themselves. Now they feel like Russia and China will be better allies and they want them to help Haiti, so that they can blame them later too.
A lot of Haitians in the diaspora, men to be specific, they go back to haiti, because they have some change in their hands, they use it to abuse the country more, they are sleeping with minors, like 10 years old girls for less than $20 US dollars. and those are the same people who act like the biggest patriots, like they want the country to change. A lot of them don't want to see it, they want it to stay like this so they can feel powerful when they go there, so that the people can still be below them. The diaspora is the ones sending guns to haiti, they are selling them for very high price and making double profits from them. Yet they blame Americans for the kidnapping, a lot of people in the diaspora are involved in the kidnapping and have their own gangs back in haiti that they are and getting money from. Sometimes you might see some doing well especially the public figures, but they are getting money from the kidnappers who kidnap people for money.
Verse 4 Breakdown
When President Biden opened the humanitarian parole program and included Haitians, it brought hope to many. But alongside that hope came widespread fraud and abuse, mostly from within the Haitian community itself.
Many Haitians began charging others up to $5,000 just to sponsor them, even though the program is free. Some newcomers who made it to the U.S. through this program now work hard but barely see their earnings. The people who sponsored them often demand a significant portion of their paychecks as "compensation." There are countless stories of individuals being taken advantage of or even kicked out after arriving.
